If you have decided you need a hearing aid, you may have considered purchasing your hearing aids online. This can save you a lot of time, but as with any online purchase requires care to be taken in choosing a vendor.

Before you can purchase hearing aids online you’ll need to get a hearing test and audiogram from your audiologist. This will let you and the vendor know what type of hearing aid you need. Do not buy from any store that does not ask for or refuses to look at your audiogram.

Buying hearing aids online is much like purchasing any product, you will have to conduct research and find out what is right for you. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

•Your audiologist can help you determine what type of hearing aid you need.

•Make sure you know about the vendor’s return policy before you buy – all companies are federally required to take returns on hearing aids but some companies charge restocking fees to return a product. You may also wish to enquire about the company’s repair policies and warranties.

•Reputable companies will provide you with help choosing and fitting your hearing aids. If you are uncomfortable with the quality of service, find another vendor. If at all possible, get all answers to questions you ask in writing.
